REMAIN IN HIS REST

DEVOTIONAL BREAD

Psalm 91

[1] Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Highest will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. [a] [2] I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. [3] Surely, he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. [4] He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings, you will find refuge;

Matthew 11:28 says come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Receiving rest from God through Christ is to receive peace, insight, knowledge, and understanding to walk in wisdom by abiding in His word that illuminates our spirit and soul.

Rest in God is RESTN IN HIS WORD. Therefore, dwelling in the shadow wings of the father is abiding in the WORD that gives us the right knowledge to walk rightly before him and we undoubtedly enjoy his awesome protection.

Samuel 22:20-23, “20 But one son of Ahimelek son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled to join David. [21] He told David that Saul had killed the priests of the Lord. [22] Then David said to Abiathar, “That day when Doeg the Edomite was there, I knew he would be sure to tell Saul. I am responsible for the death of your whole family. [23] Stay with me; don’t be afraid. The man who wants to kill you is trying to kill me too. You will be safe with me.”

David told Ahitub who escape from King Saul’s massacre of the priest household to remain here and he will be safe because he is at rest in God irrespective of Saul’s aggression to kill him and God protected him.

In Psalm 23:3-6 - David says! The Lord restores my soul, He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. [4] Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. [5] You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. [6] Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life, And I will [a]dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. May God help you to rest in him through his word and walk in a living testimony.
