AVOID THE PRACTICE OF JUDGING

Matthew 7:1

“Judge[a] not, that you be not judged. For with what [b]judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.

Criticism is the practice of carrying out judgment on someone. Today, this spirit of condemnation and criticism has become normal amongst Christians whereas, God through His Son Jesus has cautioned us to desist from it. One could realize in the Bible that, those who ended up under the influence of this spirit became victims of their criticism and condemnation.

Adam criticized God, saying “the woman you put here with me gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.” Genesis 3:12 forgetting that he was not forced to eat the fruit. Moses judged and condemned the Israelites calling them rebels, “must we bring you water out of this rock?” Numbers 20:10. He ended up becoming a victim of his own condemnation, leading to his death.

David impatiently passed out judgment and condemnation at the case presented to him by Prophet Nathan. He, David the king, ended up becoming the victim of his words by approving capital punishment against himself.

Judas Iscariot criticized Jesus when the woman with the alabaster jar of oil poured the oil on Jesus' feet, without him knowing and understanding the spiritual implication of what the woman did. His selfish ambitions cost him his dear life.

Didn't God know that the people He chose will one day become victims of their own criticisms? I believe He knows, yet He does not change His plans for us. Malachi 3:6, Numbers 23:19. But we must acknowledge this grace upon our life and abide in His word. Nevertheless, we should also understand that whatever God forbids, us has a price to pay.

May God help you this morning to be constructive in criticism, and also pray, more for people instead of judging them.

DECLARE:

I confess to abide by Your word and do according to what is written in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer:

Father, I pray that You help me to stand firm against the spirit of criticism in Jesus' Mighty name, Amen.
