OUR DAILY BREAD

BIBLE VERSE - 1 Peter 5:8
"Be alert and of a sober mind. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."
When we, as believers, are confronted with trials, we often fail because of our ignorance and impatience in understanding the enemy's devices and plans. The thoughts we allow to dominate our minds can become a platform for the enemy to trap us into failure.
Our maturity in Christ is evident when we endure moments of trials and emerge victoriously. Success in trials depends on our ability to discern and overcome the devil with any form of temptation he brings into our lives. It's about daily fellowship with the Holy Spirit and the capacity to relate with our brethren in Christ, regardless of how they may hurt, offend, or oppose us.
The enemy uses our conditions to tempt and access us. If we abide in the Word and apply it in times of temptation and trials, we gain strength. Consider the example of Jesus, who, hungry after fasting for forty days and nights, was tempted by Satan. Jesus responded, 'It is written: "Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds from the mouth of God."'
Another scenario involves Joseph, son of Jacob (Israel), who faced temptation from Potiphar's wife, an evil and lustful woman. Joseph responded, "I forbid sinning against God." This is a model for how we must resist those who attempt to lead us into premarital sex and other sins.
Today, the devil still tempts us with our character, attitude, pain, bitterness, hatred, and anger that accumulate in our hearts. I encourage you to guard your heart diligently, for that is where Christ looks, and it is where the devil takes advantage to bring shame upon us. Let our hearts be filled with the Word and praises, and the devil will find no room to operate and fail us in moments of trials.
