GRACE! THE POWER OF RESISTANCE

Resisting Ungodliness and Worldly Temptations

BREA OF LIFE

Introduction:

In our journey of faith, one powerful ally we possess is the grace of God. This divine force not only brings salvation but also equips us to resist the allure of ungodliness and worldly passions. Let's delve into Acts 20:32 and Titus 2:11-12 to understand how grace empowers us to stand strong against the forces that seek to pull us away from our Christian path.

Grace's Guiding Light: Acts 20:32

Acts 20:32 offers us a profound insight into the transformative power of God's grace. Paul commits believers to "the word of His grace," a source that not only builds them up but also bestows upon them a heavenly inheritance. This verse underscores the dual nature of grace – it nurtures our spiritual growth while empowering us to discern and resist the snares of a sinful world.

Saying "No" to Ungodliness: Titus 2:11-12

Titus 2:11-12 shines a spotlight on grace's role in shaping our character. This passage teaches that God's grace isn't merely a passive blessing but an active instructor. It guides us to utter the powerful word, "No," when faced with ungodly desires and worldly passions. By doing so, we learn to cultivate self-control, uprightness, and godliness. This transformation occurs within the context of our present age, highlighting the relevance of grace in our daily lives.

Contrasting Belief and Practice

Upon a close examination of Titus 2:11-12, we recognize a stark contrast between the scriptural exhortation and the reality of many believers' lives. It becomes evident that while God's grace calls us to reject ungodliness, some of us struggle to let go of past attitudes and behaviors, often due to external influences like friends. However, as recipients of God's grace, we are entrusted with a divine obligation to respond positively, embracing a life aligned with His goodness.

The Battle Within - Resisting Worldly Temptations

The apostle Paul's prayers to the saints emphasize the significance of aligning our lives with the principles of grace. This commitment involves not only building ourselves up but also honing our ability to resist anything contrary to Christ's teachings. Our daily struggle against sin and challenges is a lifelong endeavor. Thankfully, God equips us with the Spirit and the Word, providing the tools needed to overcome and live victoriously.

Cultivating Grace-Centered Living

To fully harness the power of grace, we must discipline ourselves and allow the fellowship of God's Spirit and Word to guide our actions. This means saying "No" to the temptations that seek to lead us astray. By doing so, we actively resist the devil's attempts to derail our faith journey, ensuring that we remain firmly rooted in God's grace.

Meditation

As we reflect on Acts 20:32 and Titus 2:11-12, we're reminded of the transformative nature of grace. It not only brings salvation but empowers us to resist ungodliness and worldly passions.

Conclusion: A Life of Grace-Fueled Resistance

In a world teeming with distractions and temptations, embracing grace-centered living becomes a powerful testimony of our faith. Let us draw inspiration from these passages, allowing the word of grace to guide us, build us up, and enable us to say a resounding "No" to anything that stands in contrast to Christ's teachings. Through the grace of God, we can navigate life's challenges, emerging victorious and glorifying His name in the process.

Declaration

I declare I’m a God-carrier, the house of His Spirit. I affirm I can't be a failure or be defeated because the Greater One abides in me. I influence my world with His divine glory. I declare by His grace there is no room for ungodliness. Therefore, I refuse to accommodate anything that is of the darkness in Jesus' name
