Bible Verse - Philippians 3:13
Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, Amen.
The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation: the old is gone, the new has come!" This verse provides a strong foundation for our new life as Christians, upon which we can build for both our spiritual and physical growth
However, a lack of understanding of this new life in Christ often keeps us stuck in our past, including memories of people from our past. As a result, we don't see any positive changes in our lives because we are stagnant with the past. Remember, You! are a new creation, born again into God's kingdom.
Even with our forgiveness, we sometimes struggle to forgive others and ourselves because we hold onto our past mistakes and behaviors. Romans 4:25 says, "He was given over to death for our sins and raised to life for our justification."
This means you are declared "not guilty" and free from your past. There are no charges against you, and you have become a new creation. To fully grasp this truth, you need to renew your mind with the help of the Holy Spirit. Romans 12:1-2 explains why it's important to guard your heart and have fellowship with the Holy Spirit to help you stay rooted in God's Word.
Apostle Paul, in our opening scripture, emphasizes the importance of leaving the past behind and focusing on the future. He had a past filled with guilt and painful memories that could have hindered his future success.
May the Holy Spirit help you leave your past behind and concentrate on your future.
