REFUSE DISTRACTIONS
Luke 10:40-42
But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”[41] “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, [42] but few things are needed or indeed only one. [a] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."
One of the keys to a successful person is living a focused and purpose-driven life. Jesus' earthly ministry was full of challenges, temptations, and distractions from the scribes, the Pharisees, and the Sadducees, yet He focused to fulfill His purpose and mission on earth.
Our opening scripture explains to us how Jesus visited the home of these two sisters to preach the Good News. The Bible says Mary was attentively listening whilst Martha was distracted with domestic chores and complaining to the extent that Jesus said to Her. “Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Recently, a friend of mine was fasting for more grace in his life and he had a dream. He was supposed to go for an interview but he was doing something else and the Lord told him he needed to focus if he wants to experience His glory and breakthrough in life.
This is the challenge that many Christians face in life. In the churches, in marriages and workplaces, and in prayers. Some of us are being distracted by the tendency of affection and passion for other things in the church and life. Our minds are far away, but God is calling on you this morning to focus on the word that will bring you success and peace.
Meditation:
Matthew 6:33
Joshua 1:1-8
Prayer:
Father, I thank You for the grace to focus on Your Word in Jesus' name, Smen.
