THE FRUITS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

Bible Verse - JAMES 3:15

"For jealousy and selfishness are not of God's wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic."

The Scriptures affirm that God has united us with Christ Jesus, making Him our wisdom and righteousness. Through this union, we can walk rightly with God, as He sanctified and redeemed us from sin. This allows us to boast and glory in the Lord as found in 1 Corinthians 1:30-31. All of this occurred so that we might sow a seed of right living and harvest the fruits of righteousness in our daily lives.

Therefore, God, through Jesus Christ, has bestowed upon us the Holy Spirit to assist us in walking in His righteousness. When we fellowship with Him as shown in 2 Corinthians 13:14, and yield our soul and body to His control, we begin to follow His divine direction and guidance, as we submit to His counsel.

The Holy Spirit guides us against worldly influences and patterns that lead to jealousy and selfishness, as emphasized in our theme verse. Thankfully, the Spirit within us as a believer, helps us bear His fruit, which includes love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23).

James 3:17-18 reminds us that, the wisdom from above is pure, peace-loving, gentle, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds, showing no favoritism, and always sincere. Peacemakers, according to verse 18, will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.

Consider the fruits of your good deeds mentioned in the above scriptures – the fruits of His Spirit that you practice will help you sow the seeds of peace, unity, love, and self-control. Consequently, you will reap the fruit of righteousness. Therefore, walk in the fruit of the Spirit, abide in it, and God's righteousness shall be evident in you. Amen.
