The Word in Your Heart

Our Daily Bread:

Mark 4:14-15

The sower sows the word. And these are they by the wayside, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts

Matthew 13:1-23, Mark 4:1-20, and Luke 8:4-15 tell a simple story that Jesus used to illustrate and teach spiritual lessons: the parable of the Sower. When explaining the parable, Jesus said the seeds that fell by the wayside represented those who hear the Word of God but don't understand it. Therefore, Satan comes immediately and steals the Word from their hearts where the seed was planted (Mark 4:14-15).

This explains how Satan monitors the Word in your life. When the Word of God comes to you, Satan is also at work. Let us remember when the Word of God came to Jesus openly when He was being baptized. Later, in Matthew 3:17, God said from heaven, 'This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.'

Suddenly, the tempter came to Him and said, 'If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread' (Matthew 4:3). He challenged the Word that came to Jesus. But Jesus responded with the Word, saying, '...It is written, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God"' (Matthew 4:4). He declared the scriptures against the words of Satan.

So, keep in mind that you are not Satan's target but rather what will make you who you are meant to be. That is what the Word has come to make you according to God's divine will, which will bring glory to God and blessings to other people. He is after that, which is why you need to guard your heart diligently so that the enemy might not have his way.

Therefore, practice how to meditate on and declare the Word of God with your mouth, for it is the sword of your spirit that destroys the enemy's plans against you and confuses their agenda in the name of Jesus.
